Vote on Glenn Beck’s new book cover

Important stuff here, folks. Though I don’t want to jinx anything by revealing too much, I’ll probably cast my vote on option #3. The homage to Lady Liberty is well considered, and the lighting from a new dawn really drives the concept home.

I like it. Understated – that’s what it is. Classy.

Important stuff, indeed! Stop the presses! It’s only the champion of American freedom and liberties etc., Glenn Beck publishing a new book (a thriller)! It’s almost like the site is hacked by some wealthy right-wing bastard who paid off some misjudged techno-savvy kids to feature his new favourite bedside book!

Can it be this age’s Hard Times (For These Times)? Maybe, in a morbid, not-so-well-written-way! Glenn Beck can be a preening, wailing idiot who has way too much airtime for your average emotionally unstable lunatic, but that doesn’t stop him from sharing his earthly wisdom with us; and while run-of-the-mill, thinly-veiled conspiracy theories (I am sure Beck’s book won’t be an example of that genre) get published every day, everywhere, I think the soundest thing would be to maybe go through the trash and feature a cover which, well, doesn’t look like it’s been done hundreds of times? “The homage to Lady Liberty is well-considered”? Really? I mean, really? Am I the only one who sees it as the uninspired, hackneyed bullshit symbolism as it truly is?

How about the last book by Lauren Conrad, or, say, the biography of Rush Limbaugh for your next post? You could point out how Limbaugh’s roguish handsome look compliments the cover. It will be fine. No need to thank me, thank your sycophantic urge.

  3. Oh, Linus. You can’t see the sarcasm, can you?

  4. Ricardo says:

Wow, this kind of reminds me of the end of “Planet of the Apes”… And how about Option 4, with THREE Washington monuments and apocalyptic smoke? Very dramatic.

  5. Jez says:

Is the cover some kind of reference to Sydney’s annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras?

    Who’s Glenn Beck?

  6. Lola says:

All I can say is, that is one damn big letter “C.”

  7. Austin Storm says:

It’s so cornball it’d be difficult to parody. It’s gone all the way round to being awesome, in the classic so-bad-it’s-good tradition. I will be super disappointed if they don’t choose it.

  8. Leigh Woosey says:

It looks like an Alt-Reality Fantasy novel cover (and in that capacity it actually does pretty well).

Fitting, since Glen Beck *lives* in his fantasy of an alternative reality.

  9. Losa says:

LOL! Lola, you are so right. Combining that with the Washington monument in #4…. hummm.

  10. M J McGregor says:

Enough of that Lady Liberty, it’s time for a real man statue to take charge!
