2008 AIGA 50/50 Selections

The winners are up.

On the one hand, it’s just silly that the AIGA of all people can’t post larger images on their site. On the other, I’m not about to go through and track them all down, so I can’t point the finger too hard. Sorry about that.

Congratulations to all the winners.

Hah…I had the same thought about the sizes of the images. I think they’ll post larger once when we get closer to the actual exhibit (in October?). But then they’ll probably be in that Flash interface they’ve used in the past. That might actually be worse than posting small images…

Ha! I thought I was doing a good thing by offering thumbnails of the images, but this proves even the best laid plans still can’t please everyone.

In past years the list of awardees had no images and no links. This year we built in thumbnails, and functionality to turn each into a hyperlink once all the high-resolution images have been uploaded to the AIGA Design Archives (http://http://designarchives.aiga.org/). AIGA Design Archives was built in Flash, the start of the art technology years ago when it was developed. It sounds like you will be pleased to know that an updated, non-Flash version is presently in development.

I am truly sorry that you are frustrated by the thumbnail images but hope you will enjoy exploring the full Archive listing in the fall when they are online. Good thing there’s no such thing as bad publicity…

Lydia – thanks for trudging over here and giving us the skinny.
If you think of it, be sure and let me know when the new links are active.

    Lydia:

I apologize for the snottiness of my comment; it’s borne more from frustration about not being able to link deeply/directly to the 50/50 in years past than from anything else. I’m looking forward to being able to do that in the future. Thanks for making the change.
